Sustainability is important to us so we try to use meat that is locally raised as much as possible. However, when not seasonally available in New England, we use the best small farm products that we can source. We purchase the bulk of our meats through various sources with an emphasis on quality, sustainability and fair treatment of animals.
Our seafood comes from New Deal Fish Market in East Cambridge. They are a small family run business that is dedicated to the highest standards of quality.
We try, when seasonally possible, to purchase the bulk of our fruits and vegetables from local farms and various farmers markets.
As for groceries we use very little in the way of processed foods unless an ingredient is seasonally prohibitive or a recipe demands it, we make a point of using the best that we can find. Although “Localvore” is this years buzzword, San Marzano tomatoes only come from Italy, Nicoise olives only come from France, and none of us around here have truffles growing under our oak trees.
